Rustic-chic Paprika fills a niche all its own on St. Mark’s Place — an earthy, authentic Northern Italian spot, rich in flavor with warm, friendly service. From the cozy, stylish room to the menu of full-flavored dishes, Paprika is genuine and unpretentious.

The menu reflects Chef/Owner Egidio Donagrandi’s upbringing in Valtellina, where Italy meets Switzerland. The Alpine region's specialites include pizzoccheri pasta with casera cheese, savoy cabbage, potatoes and garlic; pappardelle with braised oxtail ragu; buckwheat polenta with bitto, casera and crescenza cheeses; bresaola carpaccio with pickled oyster mushrooms and radishes; homemade spaetzle with brussels sprouts and fava beans; buckwheat lasagna with leeks and cheese fonduta; lamb meatballs; and grilled trout with spring onions and braised fennel.

East Village foodies will appreciate the excellent Italian wine selections and delightful desserts such as homemade tiramisu or panna cotta with balsamic fig reduction. If that’s not enough enticement, there’s also a daily $18 prix-fixe dinner, which includes an appetizer and main course.
